The surface design of Corten Steel
Cortenstahl replicates aged metal
surfaces in a way that makes them look convincingly real, and giving guests a
new experience of a room. Aesthetics and design go hand in hand with
architecture and space. The iridescence of the metal, and its antique patina in
soft gold and bronze tones provide a mesmerising effect.
The materials are available on different
substrates such as 19 mm MDF or 0.8 mm HPL. The coating is approximately
between 0.6-0.8 mm thick, and is applied by hand.
These surfaces are suitable for fitting out hotels and restaurants, shops, trade fairs, and yachts, and can be used for furniture manufacture as well. The materials can be worked using standard carpentry tools and machinery. Corten is manufactured by Wallenstein-Manufaktur GmbH & Co.KG and designed in-house by Kerstin Dorenwendt-Zarski.

Remark: “The
Wallenstein-Manufaktur has followed the ‘metal’ trend and, in doing so,
produced an innovative surface design that has opened up unforeseen
possibilities in interior design.” - red dot award design jury
